What is Batik
Batik word (or word batik) derived from the javanese "amba",
meaning to write and "nitik". Batik is the art of painting done on
cloth using wax or night as a protection for ornamentation on the cloth.
The characteristics of traditional batik:
- Decorative motif snake, barong, geometric, pagoda.
- Motif has a symbolic meaning.
- Colors tend to be dark (white - black - brown color).
- Motive characteristic of the area of origin.
The characteristics of modern batik:
- Free decorative animals, plants, wreaths, etc..
